Why Specialized Tools Matter Commercial vehicle cooling systems are vastly different from passenger cars. They feature massive coolant capacities, complex circuits (EGR coolers, transmission coolers), and high-pressure environments. Maintaining them requires tools designed for speed and volume to prevent engine overheating and downtime.

Coolant Capacity Reference

Truck cooling systems hold significantly more fluid than cars. Knowing the capacity helps in planning maintenance:

1. Pressure Leak Testing

Safety First: Never open the coolant system when hot. Always wait for the engine to cool to avoid injury from pressurized steam.

The Process:

1. Check Levels: Ensure coolant is between MIN/MAX on the surge tank.

2. Identify Caps: Most trucks have two caps. Use the Pressure Cap (usually marked 1.0–1.5 bar) for testing, not the smaller non-sealing inspection cap.

3. Pressurize: Manual pumping on a truck system is exhausting due to the large air volume in the surge tank. The Pneumatic Tool uses compressed air to pressurize the system instantly, saving time and effort.

2. Vacuum Coolant Refill (The Better Way)
